Family and Pet Portrait Photography

Jen, Maggie, and Macey – Orange County Portrait Photography

Jen and Maggie brought Macey, their adorable dog, along with them to their engagement session. I used this as an opportunity to not only capture images of them playing with Macey, but a beautiful family portrait as well.

I love the color of this wall in the tunnel leading to Salt Creek Beach.  We were all headed out after photographing on the beach and at the park when I suddenly stopped to take this beautiful image. I didn’t notice the wall on the way in, but I’m glad I did on the way out.

Here we went to the top of hill in Laguna Beach to play in the field. Despite the freezing cold overcast weather we were able to get some very natural images. This is a great family portrait and will soon be on their wall!

Holiday Card Puppy Portraits

OSCAR & LADY JANE

This is Lady Jane and Oscar, two of the cutest Duschund puppies ever. Josh and went to their owner’s house to photograph holiday card portraits of the new puppies and had a blast. This was not my first time photographing puppies, but it was my first time photographing two young puppies together. When we started the photo shoot I let their owners stay in the room to help get them to sit still. Normally this works well with dogs because they listen to their owners. However these pups were so young that they had not been trained yet. I quickly figured this out and asked the owners to leave. We spent an hour chasing the puppies around before they calmed down for a moment for us to capture this shot and the next.

This last image was really what we had envisioned when we went to the house. This image here took about 45 minutes to capture. The puppies had lost all interest in us and the photoshoot at this point. We couldn’t even bribe them with treats to sit still. We had tried to get both puppies in the box together, but Oscar kept jumping out. Eventually we gave in and let Oscar sit on the floor next to the box and we were able to capture this image. This was the image that was used on the holiday cards.
