TOUR OF CALIFORNIA, PASADENA

Josh loves to bike ride and I have to admit, it is fun. We also like to watch pro bike races. For those who don’t know, the Tour of California is the biggest bike race in the United States. We went to Pasadena for the Tour of California where we were able to capture images of some of the best cyclists out there: Lance Armstrong, George Hincapie, Tom Boonen, and Levi Leipheimer.
This was the first real bike race I had ever been to and I learned an important aspect to photographing bike races while capturing these images… never turn your back to the cyclists that are coming toward you. I followed George Hincapie with my camera as he past by and almost got hit by a passing cyclist. This is a BIG no-no. As a photographer or spectator you are not allowed to get in the way of the cyclists. Needless to say I have been very careful since then and have been able to avoid collisions.
