Family Portrait Photography at the Park

Jen, Maggie, and Macey – Orange County Portrait Photography

Jen and Maggie brought Macey, their adorable dog, along with them to their engagement session. I used this as an opportunity to not only capture images of them playing with Macey, but a beautiful family portrait as well.

I love the color of this wall in the tunnel leading to Salt Creek Beach.  We were all headed out after photographing on the beach and at the park when I suddenly stopped to take this beautiful image. I didn’t notice the wall on the way in, but I’m glad I did on the way out.

Here we went to the top of hill in Laguna Beach to play in the field. Despite the freezing cold overcast weather we were able to get some very natural images. This is a great family portrait and will soon be on their wall!

Kelly & Michael Beach Engagement Portraits, Laguna Beach, CA

Kelly & Michael were a great couple to photograph. They came with their hair and makeup ready and their clothes ironed. I love this first shot of them. Right after I had positioned them to get the perfect splash of water a seal crawled up onto the rock in the background. It was perfect timing. The seal can be seen sunbathing in a few their shots including this one. I love the movement of the water too.

What a perfect day out! I love how the sun illuminated the background allowing it to be saturated with color. With the tide out we able to capture the gorgeous green moss that lined the tide pools.

I love this last shot of them walking away together. That little splash of water adds movement to this photograph. I like how they are framed within the water as well.

Wedding at Tivoli Too, Laguna Beach, CA

ASHLEY & ERRIN

Ashley and Errin are one of the cutest and most loving couples that I have ever had the privilege of photographing. They had an evening wedding at Tivoli Too in Laguna Beach. If you haven’t seen this location it is definitely worth stopping by. It’s basically a fairy tale land with gorgeous flowers everywhere and twinkling lights.

Ashley and Errin decided to see each other before the wedding so that we could take advantage of the beautiful sunlight for their family portraits prior to the ceremony. It is so important to capture that first time that they see each other. I love it when a couple decides to see each other before the ceremony. I know it is tradition not see the bride before the ceremony, but it is so much better in my opinion to have that time together before making a lifelong commitment. Plus the groom is almost always more emotional and willing to let those emotions show when he sees his bride for the first time without an audience of people watching him. Ladies, if you want to see your man cry from joy, this is the way to do it.

Okay, back to my lovely couple…

This picture was taken in the entrance of Tivoli Too. I love how natural they are together even with a bunch of people around, a camera in their face, and a veil covering them.

This image is one of my personal favorites. The rod iron heart shaped gate is closed before the guests are let in, then opened the rest of the evening, so I wanted to make sure that we captured the symbol of love with them before the guests arrived. Ashley is so beautiful in this picture, it really shows off her dress too.

I’m skipping the ceremony and go straight to the end of the reception. This photo was taken during the Horah, a song and dance done to honor the bride and groom and surround them with love. Yes, they were lifted on chairs. I love this photograph because you can see the joy in the bride and groom’s faces as well as the love of the family surrounding them.

This was truly one of the most beautiful ceremonies followed by one of the most fun wedding receptions that I have ever been to. Ashley even sang a rap song to Errin. It was great!

Please take a look at their full wedding album in Wedding 1.

Lydia was so much fun to photograph! I went to her house in Laguna Beach were I took her around to different areas and photographed her beautiful pregnant tummy in the natural light. I love the framing of Lydia in the doorway with the hand tint effect that really makes her stand out. She looks so beautiful!

Comfort for expectant mothers is so important in the later stage of the pregnancy. Photographing in the home is such a great way to keep a women at ease (and it keeps her by the food she loves). The miracle of life is so amazing. I was lucky enough to be able to visit Lydia in the hospital and hold little Stirling when he was just a day old.
