Jen, Maggie, and Macey – Orange County Portrait Photography

Jen and Maggie brought Macey, their adorable dog, along with them to their engagement session. I used this as an opportunity to not only capture images of them playing with Macey, but a beautiful family portrait as well.

I love the color of this wall in the tunnel leading to Salt Creek Beach.  We were all headed out after photographing on the beach and at the park when I suddenly stopped to take this beautiful image. I didn’t notice the wall on the way in, but I’m glad I did on the way out.

Here we went to the top of hill in Laguna Beach to play in the field. Despite the freezing cold overcast weather we were able to get some very natural images. This is a great family portrait and will soon be on their wall!

Kelly & Michael Beach Engagement Portraits, Laguna Beach, CA

Kelly & Michael were a great couple to photograph. They came with their hair and makeup ready and their clothes ironed. I love this first shot of them. Right after I had positioned them to get the perfect splash of water a seal crawled up onto the rock in the background. It was perfect timing. The seal can be seen sunbathing in a few their shots including this one. I love the movement of the water too.

What a perfect day out! I love how the sun illuminated the background allowing it to be saturated with color. With the tide out we able to capture the gorgeous green moss that lined the tide pools.

I love this last shot of them walking away together. That little splash of water adds movement to this photograph. I like how they are framed within the water as well.

Engagement Photography at the Old Orange County Courthouse

KELLY & BRIAN

Kelly and Brian are a match made in heaven. They each have 2 beautiful children, a total of 4, 2 girls and 2 boys. I saw a picture of them and they all look identical. It’s crazy. Plus they are all around the same age.

When Kelly came into our Costa Mesa studio so we could plan her engagement session, she mentioned how much she loved the photograph of Morgan and Brenen in an archway in Downtown LA. So I searched around and found the beautiful Old Orange County Courthouse that provided the perfect archways for this photoshoot. The natural reactions in all of these photographs truly reflect who they are.

Wedding at the Chart House in Dana Point, CA

MORGAN & BRENEN

This wedding was awesome! We had 8 hours of photography with 3 photographers for this wedding. We started the day with the getting ready shots with the bride and the bridesmaids. Morgan’s mother was so happy for her. I was so glad we could capture the shot of her mother fastening up the back of the dress. It was truly a perfect mother/daughter moment. While I took pictures of the groomsmen, one of my second photographers hopped in the limo with the ladies and took some fun pictures of them goofing around.

After the reception we took the wedding party down to the beach so we could get some fun images of everyone together. We were also able to capture these gorgeous images of the bride and groom.

The cake you see above was made by Morgan’s aunt. Knowing this I made sure to get an image of the cake with the bride and groom using the natural sunlight that was drifting in through the window. I took this shot from a low angle to capture the unique architecture of the Dana Point Chart House. It was such a beautiful wedding.

Orange County Fashion Photography with Jamie Michele

FASHION PHOTOGRAPHY

Every once and awhile Jamie Michele and I get together for fashion photography shoots. It’s so much for us to hang out and be creative together. This time we decided to do a 1940′s fashion shoot at the circle in Orange, California.

In this  shot I wanted a lighthearted look. I positioned the camera so I could capture a slight sun flare that gives it the sunny glow. Jessica, our model, came up with great facial expressions like the one you see here. I love Jessica’s beautiful eyes that light up in each shot – a photographers dream.

When I go to a new location I try to find areas that match the vibe I’m going for. For 1940′s I thought the fountain would be perfect. In this shot I was going for the idea that this woman was out enjoying a day of sun. I love the big glasses.

This last shot was taken just after we sat down for a cappuccino break at a local sidewalk cafe. I wanted to capture the idea that Jessica was out for a day of shopping when we captured a beautiful smile on her face. The photo shoot was so much fun! Jessica did an awesome job modeling for us an Jamie, as usual, did an amazing job on makeup.
