Spring is always an unpredictable time in Sunriver. I never really know what the weather will turn out to be. In fact, when we started planning for the Barklow’s family reunion photography session, it looked like Spring would be in full force with the sun shining! Then the weather changed to snow again and we started planning for blankets and jackets to run to between shots as well as layers to keep everyone warm. Luckily it’s unpredictable because we ended up with a gorgeous warm spring morning, just like we had hoped for! Yay!
Morning sessions can be tricky with lighting. I’m not a photographer who shies away from daytime sessions. I don’t always choose that perfect golden hour sunset. My main goal is to make sure that the photography session is at a good time for the family I’m photographing. For the Barklow’s, it was a morning session, a very sunny 10am morning session. So, I put them in the sun. While we all agreed these were not our absolute favorites of the day, I just couldn’t walk away from the shoot without capturing the beautiful Deschutes River in the background. However, this meant that they got duplicate poses of all the kids, by the river and with the field behind them. I may have made it harder for them to choose their favorite images to print, but that’s why I help at the ordering session! I can’t wait for their family to get their amazing artwork to hang in their home!!
I love how the Barklow’s kept their outfits in the neutral blues with a little splash of orange to brighten it up and add to that Easter weekend/spring look!
