“Marriage is a gift of two people to one another, to serve God and one another faithfully.” – Bethany

Bethany and John have been together for over 5 years. They met in high school and their friendship grew through church and running cross country together. When one went off to USC and the other to Notre Dame, no one thought these two would be together. However, their school rivalries couldn’t stop them. Eventually their friendship turned into something more and they started dating long distance while Bethany finished medical school. Eventually they made it to the same city, got engaged soon after and are so excited to now be joined as husband and wife!

They love to run, fish, camp and hike together. John fell knew she was the one on a fishing trip together when she caught a spring Chinook salmon on the Columbia River. She new over a series of moments as he supported her and carried for her through trials.

John proposed while they were on a cross-country run through Big Basin State Park in the California Redwoods. He painted a box with activities and places that were significant to them and put the ring inside! So sweet and thoughtful! Of course she said yes.

After planning a wedding full of friends and family, with over 200 guests, Covid-19 got in the way and they had to narrow down the guest list to 50. Despiate all the changes and sacrifies, they focused on the important thing, which was their marriage, and had great attitdes through it all.

When we met for their venue walk through, the smoke from the near by fires had been making the air toxic for days. We may a plan for all photos to be inside. Luckily, the smoke cleared for their wedding day!

Bethany and John chose St. Francis since John had attended the church and school since he was 5 years old. Having a Catholic wedding was very important to them. They have both celebrated some of their Sacraments there and were so excited to celebrate their marriage at St. Francis church in Bend.

Bethany was shopping for a dress during the COVID 19 pandemic when all stores were closed. After trying on a few dresses from online ordering by herself, with her mom on FaceTime, it was a bit discouraging. Once stores opened up, her mom came to visit. They made an appointment on a whim at a store which was going out of business, which had a very small selection of dresses. Thankfully, they found the perfect dress there together!

This is the box that John made! I love that Bethany added it to the details to be photographed. It’s so special!

Her something blue!!

All the girls got ready in Bethany’s parents home which of course was filled were beautiful family photos and childhood memories. Josh saw a photo of Bethany playing the piano so we thought it would be fun to capture her all grown up playing the piano. Mom and Dad can have both photos next to each other on their shelf now.

The lace back is absolutely stunning. It has a vintage 1920’s style to it and is simply perfect!

What a fun surprise!! They were filled with joy when some of their friends came to witness them exiting the church.

Even though there was surprise construction all around the church, we were able to hide it and make magic happen! We also did our best to hide John’s hand – he had to have surgery after an accident with a knife the night before the wedding.

Bethany and John choreographed their first dance!

A long tradition of sharing Crown Royal at celebrations meant that the father of the bride had to continue this at his daughter’s wedding. He shared a toast with all the guests!
