The Johnson family were so much to photograph! We met up at the top of Shevlin Park in Bend, Oregon for a relaxed family portrait session with the extended family. David and Megan and their two sweet kids haven’t really done family photos yet so this was a special treat for them. The photo session was also a special gift for mom from the whole family!
I think their photos came out so beautifully! We captured that perfect combination of casual candids with portraits for everyone. I loved watching the kids explore and being able to capture their playful spirits!
We had a little trouble with the wind so I really can’t wait to see which images they pick to be retouched. Once the fly aways are gone, these images are going to really look amazing in their homes.
Johnson family, I hope you guys cherish these sweet moments forever. Kids grow up so fast and the years fly by. These memories will keep this time preserved forever. Thank you for letting me capture these for you!
Brasada Ranch is a beautiful resort located in sunny Central Oregon. It’s the perfect place for any family to stay. The Pushkas family spent a few days at Brasada Ranch with the grandparents and had me come out to take beautiful photos so they can have some fun family memories of this time together. It was a bright and sunny day at the ranch so we chose a shady location under the tree and the famous Trestle bridge. We had a lot of fun together listening to music and just hanging out smiling at the camera. Thanks for letting me capture these beautiful photos for you! I can’t wait to see them on your walls!
I always love when families have their parents, siblings and other loved ones join in on the fun of picture taking. There are so many beautiful interactions and fun candid memories that we can capture. The Klier family session was perfectly filled with fun play time for all which made for great photos!
It was so much fun to have dogs, horse and even a llama in this session. When the Klier family sat down in the field, the horse immediately came over to check things out. He then left us and pulled a lens out of my bag. I love it!
Their farm served as the best possible setting for everyone. Not only was it stunning, but everyone felt right at home (because they were). This might not seem like a big deal, but it was so easy for everyone to have drinks and just hang out. Little Conner was very comfortable and played the whole time. This allowed me to capture natural expressions throughout their session. I’m so happy that their farm worked out!
Klier family, thank you for letting me the one to capture these memories for you! You guys were so easy to work with and such a pleasure to be around. Next time we’ll have to head to the dunes in Oxnard for some beach memories. I can’t wait to get your beautiful gallery walls up in your homes!
Black Butte Ranch is one of the most fun places to have a family reunion. Not only are there a ton of great things to do at the resort and in the area, but it’s so beautiful too!
I met Anna and her sweet family out at Black Butte Ranch for some family photos. Little boys can be a challenge sometimes in photos. These kids just wanted to make silly faces the whole time. So I did my best to play silly games and let them make whatever face they wanted to, basically I did whatever I could to get natural smiles, and I think it worked!
We got amazing family photos of the whole family, each family on their own and a bunch of kid photos. I can’t wait for them to have these on their walls at home!
Can I just say, I think this family is so adorable! They get together once a year to spend time together and get family photos taken. I am so happy to have had the honor of being their photographer this year! It was a bright morning with blue summer skies to match perfectly with their colorful summer outfits.
Photographing kids is so amazing. I had a lot of fun chasing around their little ones out in Sunriver. When kids aren’t ready to be in front of the camera, it can be extremely challenging to get them to smile or even look at the camera. So, I got creative at this shoot. I let both the older girls take one of my cameras and be my second shooter. Not only did they have fun, but it also gave them the confidence to be in front of the camera. I think they definitely have two soon-to-be photographers on their hands!
AS we were walking back to the cars after the session, this sweet girl said to me, “I love horses more than anything in the whole world! Except God and Jesus”. My heart melted!!
I absolutely love when families come together for the holidays to spend time with one another. The Scalas family came to Bend for Thanksgiving from all over, including New Zealand!! When family literally flies across the world to be together, family photographs are a must! One of my favorite things at a family reunion session is capturing all the cousins with Grandma and Grandpa… so after one group photo I got the kids to cuddle their grandparents. It was so sweet! Of course we photographed each family together as well as the cousins together and kids on their own. These kids were so cute. It’s fun to be outside in a beautiful location for photos, even if the kids get distracted and want to play in the nature, I mean, who wouldn’t? I love all the natural smile of these kiddos. I ended their session with a special parent time to capture beautiful photographs of the parents together – it’s not all about the kids. The main stars of this session are their amazing group portraits. Everyone has natural smiles, laughter and you can see that they are all very happy to be together!
Families often come together to celebrate, but it’s rare when a family gets to celebrate multiple milestones together. That was just the case for the Avery family who came together in Sunriver, Oregon this summer. Their family celebrated a 50th, 20th and 10th wedding anniversary! Wow!
I absolutely love family reunion sessions where we can get amazing family group portraits with everyone and we can do little mini sessions of each family. This time, I made sure we spent a little extra time with each couple too! Everyone needs amazing portraits on a milestone anniversary right? My favorite part of this session was when Mom and Dad brought out their wedding photo from 50 years ago to get a photo with it. So great!
This family was so much fun to photograph!
Occasionally I get calls last minute for family sessions. I totally get it being something you want to plan to, but with all the fun of being on vacation, you just forget. When this family called, I was able to fit them into the schedule for a quick family session down in Sunriver, Oregon. I am so glad it worked out! They are seriously one of my favorite groups to have photographed so far.
I met them at one of my favorite locations, down by the river, and we got shooting. I love getting the big family portraits out of the way when there are little kids around just in case they break down crying. In this case, the kids kept on smiling so it allowed us to get all the portraits done within 25 minutes and we spent the next 20 minutes just playing and having fun.
The whole reason for this session was to celebrate Ata. For his 80th birthday, he wanted to be surrounded with his family. He kids even brought out wine for a special toast. Not only do I love that I was able to document this time for him, I also LOVE all the amazing fun candids and sweet snuggles we captured of their family.
Happy 80th birthday Ata! You have an amazing family!
Shevlin Park is one of my favorite places to photograph families. There are so many options right at the parking lot, which makes it super easy to get a ton of variety in a short amount of time. For the Lucas family, with little 5 year old Keagan, I wanted to make sure we didn’t tire him out by running all around to take photos. Instead, we chose Shevlin Park and we easily got a ton of beautiful photos for their family. My favorite part of their session was focusing on the sweet relationship between brother and sister. Are they not the cutest? their photos were perfect for their holiday card this year and their 20×30 wood print looks amazing hanging in their living room!
The Evans family were so much fun to work with! They wind chill made it a little cold out, but we took their portraits in a little nook of trees feet away from their condo to make it easy for Grandpa and their little ones to get warm and have easy access to the snacks. It was perfect! I love the red accents they added for their holiday cards too.
I love taking multi-generation photos like Grandpa with the grandkids, Grandpa with the great grandkids and all the men together!
Seriously though, how cute are these cousins in their holiday ties?
The reason it’s great to have a photographer who knows how to shoot fast, especially with little kids, is because they can very quickly go from a full out cry to smiling and back again. I love the beautiful portraits of each of these brothers, but I left the natural cry in too since it so describes them at this stage in life.
One smokey August day I met the Wills family in Sunriver, Oregon at the Sunriver Resort for their family reunion photography session. We had a ton of fun photographing their family, capturing natural portraits of their group. The smoke even made the sun glow red and reflect off the water, creating a subtle softness and beautiful atmosphere.
